WMRSASC logo and meaning

Our logo – a purple oak leaf – holds deep meaning.

The oak leaf symbolises strength, endurance, wisdom, and longevity. Across cultures, the oak tree stands as a powerful emblem of resilience and stability, with deep roots and the ability to weather even the fiercest storms. This mirrors the incredible strength and courage of the survivors we support, individuals who have endured and overcome trauma and abuse.

The oak leaf also represents our dedicated staff, who work tirelessly to give survivors a voice. They go above and beyond every day – not because it’s a job, but because it’s a cause they believe in. They empower survivors to heal, to reclaim their lives, and to create lasting change.

The colour purple, chosen for our logo, represents solidarity with survivors of sexual violence in the UK. Historically tied to the suffragette movement and the broader struggle against violence towards women and girls, purple is now recognised as a non-gendered symbol – reflecting the truth that anyone, regardless of gender, can be affected by sexual violence.

2026 will see us mark our 40th anniversary and, like the oak, we will still be here, we will withstand the storms, and we will endure.
