Each leaf tells a story. Each message helps hope grow.
This Christmas, West Mercia Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC) invites you to be part of something truly special – The Purple Leaf Project, our Tree of Hope at Worcester Cathedral.
From 1 December 2025 to 6 January 2026, our Hope Tree will stand in the Cathedral as a powerful symbol of healing, courage, and community. Its branches will be filled with hundreds of hand-decorated purple leaves, each carrying a message of hope, encouragement or support written by survivors, families, local businesses and members of the public.
Together, these messages create a visual representation of compassion – reminding everyone who visits that hope can grow, even after the darkest times.
How You Can Take Part
1. Buy a Purple Leaf
Donate to The Purple Leaf Project via our Just Giving page to “buy” your leaf.
You can:
- Leave a message of hope when you donate, which we’ll handwrite onto a wooden leaf and hang on the Tree of Hope.
- Or, if you’d prefer to decorate your own, let us know in your donation note (or via business.support@wmrsasc.org.uk) and we’ll post one out to you to personalise.
Every leaf added to the Hope Tree helps us provide life-changing counselling and education through our Purple Pathways: Brighter Futures for Children project -supporting children and families affected by sexual abuse.
- Double Your Impact
Between 2–9 December, all donations made via our Big Give Christmas Challenge page will be doubled at no extra cost to you – meaning your gift goes twice as far to help children heal and build brighter futures.
- Find a Lost Leaf
Keep your eyes peeled across Worcester city centre throughout December! Our volunteers will be leaving “Lost Leaves” in parks, shops, and public spaces — each one carrying words of hope and a QR code linking back to the campaign.
If you find one:
- Add your support by returning it to the Tree of Hope at Worcester Cathedral, or
- Keep it as a reminder to stand with survivors — and share a photo on social media using #ThePurpleLeafProject and tag @WMRSASC.
For Local Businesses
Local businesses can also take part by sponsoring bundles of leaves, helping hope grow faster while sharing messages of solidarity and support.
Each business sponsor will be recognised on the Hope Tree display and in our social media thank-you posts.
To discuss sponsorship, email business.support@wmrsasc.org.uk.
