Reclaim The Night 2024 Update

by Rachel | Dec 6, 2024 | Uncategorized

We had a fantastic night making a noise at Reclaim the Night. Following the march, there were speakers at The Granary followed by a minute’s silence and a reading of the names of women around the UK who have been murdered by men this year. Their names also hung from roses that were hand-knitted to represent each woman.

CEO, Jocelyn Anderson said: “I am incredibly proud of the work that our staff and survivors do to support survivors of sexual violence.  Funding remains an issue for the centre, and it is difficult to understand why ending violence against women and girls is not a priority within Worcestershire, why there is no commissioning strategy within Health or the Local Authority, despite a needs assessment that was completed in 2021 recommending it”.

Ms Anderson called on all local elected MPs and Councillors to lend their support to change this within the county as soon as possible.
