Safeguarding policy statement

West Mercia Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC) is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk. We take all reasonable steps to protect people from physical, emotional or sexual abuse and neglect. Our safeguarding commitment applies to all individuals we come into contact with through our work, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, nationality or country of origin.

All of our staff, volunteers and Trustees act with respect, compassion and professionalism, and prioritise the rights, safety and wellbeing of the people we support.

WMRSASC follows and adheres to local safeguarding policies and procedures. We review our safeguarding policies and procedures annually to ensure they remain effective and up to date.

All WMRSASC staff and volunteers complete mandatory safeguarding training at induction and undertake annual refresher training to ensure their knowledge remains current and in line with best practice. Staff and volunteers also receive ongoing training and development to maintain current safeguarding best practice.

All safeguarding concerns are managed promptly and confidentially, in line with our safeguarding procedures and GDPR.

Information is shared only with those who need to know in order to keep someone safe. We also operate a whistleblowing policy that protects anyone raising genuine concerns.

WMRSASC is committed to culturally sensitive and inclusive safeguarding practice that respects the diverse backgrounds and identities of the people we support.
